Ok, what's the list of good, state-of-the-art games, unplayable on my old PC, that the new monster rig will run at max without so much as a hiccup?

Crysis
Crysis Warhead
But tbh, it's not 'amazing' if somebody can run them. A year ago I spent $600 (including monitor) to build a rig that can run it on Very High at 30fps.

I laugh at all the people that still think you need a supercomputer.

It always comes down to FSX for you HM....

you need to get a more diverse game stable on your rig, live a little... enjoy the fruits of the labors of more than 1 development team.

I would say try things like:

  • Fallout 3
  • Fear 2
  • Warhammer Age of Reconing (If you like MMOs),
  • Bioshock
  • Mass Effect
  • Grid (A cool Racing Game)

That is all I can think of right now that has not been mentioned.

I must defend Harleyman over FSX; as far as I'm aware, it has always been "benchmark" software.  It's so demanding that if your system can run it at decent FPS and at high settings, it'll run anything!

Thanks for the recommendations, though, Kliebor2.  FEAR 2 scaled down very well on my current, out-of-date rig, so it'll be interesting to see how it performs at 100% rather than 45% of its potential.  I may well give Grid a go, as well as other system hogs like Mirror's Edge and BIA HH.
