What is the best cooler for AMD Phenom II X4? My brother has one. He has the same cooler as mine (Coolit Domino ALC) but he can only OC @ 3.5 Ghz. He wants to go to 3.8 or even 4 Ghz.

Depends if you want to stay with LC or use air cooling. If LC, three are several good ones out there. Like the swiftech H2O series. I installed one in a friends comp (took forever), and he OC an intel i7 920 to 3.8ish with fairly low temps. Not sure what air units will fit it. Pretty sure the Cooler Master v10 is AM2+ compatible though. Not very savy with AMD personally. But most new coolers you can get the bracket to fit whatever you have. I would say if you can get a V8 or a TRUE you would be rockin along as well as most of the LC setups

Well, without getting into a bunch of more complex assembly LC solutions, Cool-it offers quite a few beefier liquid coolers like to Elimonator, Freezone and Boreas that should give you a significant gains in cooling power. THe Eliminator itself reviews quite well on many sites and is worth looking into.

This is the best air cooling out right now. Give it 2 good 80 CFM fan's and you'll be gettin 4.0ghz im sure. Unless you got a louzy chip, then I feel bad for you. haha. Good luck with whatever you choose. Edited by PatrickB - 24 Feb 2009 at 11:26pm |
