i think you meant to say 3d gamer, since 120hz doesnt mean crap otherwise

Just speculating here but wouldn't 120hz be an advantage regarding tearing? Allowing you to take off vsync and run maximum FPS? I don't know if added cost would be worth it but just wondering your opinion on that.

technically yes but dont foget a few things:
you have to be averaging over 60 fps to see a benefit... you should be averaging 120 or more
the difference between rendering 1920x1080 at 60hz vs rendering it at 120hz is very substantial.. 1920x1080 120hz is more work than rendering 2560x1600 60hz, so id say you may need dual 480s or more
youd have to be in a spending range beyond my comprehension to justify this right now. i rarely see tearing, and i couldnt imagine paying twice as much for a monitor that could potentially avoid it

Thanks for the answer. The cost def wouldn't be worth it for me right now just like an IPS panel isn't really worth it for me. I see your point regarding the work load...might as well just upgrade size/resolution of monitor with the extra graphics processing needed if you wanted to lay that money down on gaming.
