Thanks!

You're probably right...CDBurnerXP Pro may be a great (free) utility...and maybe I'm only one of a small number of uninformed buyers...but, I probably would past this by on the grounds that I run "Vista" and it's not in the title. Yeah, I know, just cuz it isn't there doesn't mean it won't or can't run it...but, to me, any company that hasn't changed it's title to reflect Vista capability by now--is too lazy to get my money--and I wonder what else they couldn't find time to do...that might make their software old/antiquated/outdated/and second-hand passed off for "new and improved"
One other thing...and this probably falls under the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) category (which I suggested sometime back...) I know the topic question of this thread is "What's a GOOD CD burning software"...but, I'm inclined to change the category to "What's the BEST...
Maybe I'm just dreaming here...or it isn't worth the effort...but, wouldn't it be nice if we had a (specific) section/thread with the BEST (maybe, even cheapest but good/free?) software-by-category listed for easy reference? Of course, it would need to be kept up to date as-well-as limited in who can make changes to the list. Recommendations for input/change can be made by anyone...with forum members voting their preference...??
Considering the number of computers sold here...many buyers have the same questions. Just as the binder from DSO (with new computers) help get them started...so too, a forum tailored to the needs of the new buyer/member...would be part of the "full-service" attitude?

there is no reason to change the name when it has recognition, it would be foolish and take away from the creditability of the software that has taken years to build, I urge you to never assume anything about anything and always check.
CDBurnerXP Pro is compatible with vista, if you just click the link you will see vista is listed.
also its a free utility there is no money to pay.
burning software is either good or bad, there is no best IMO, cause other then how good of a job it does at burning the rest of the criteria would be user's preference based opinions.

Ya got a point there...in many cases "user preference" is a big factor...and would make "ranking" software difficult. My fist rant...about the box not having "Vista" on it too...was as much tongue-in-cheek (devil's advocate) and blow-back from past experiences of buying something that didn't work the way they said--despite it being on the box. Look at it as trying to stimulate conversation
One last thing...I thought you'd be a good candidate for Forum Moderator in charge of organizing/maintaining (aforementioned/suggested) FAQ files....it's a time-consuming, thankless, un-paid postion, with no-power--you interested

LOL guys its was already discussed and offered and it was/is an honor to have so much support, however I like being independent, that way no body can think that my recommendations could have an alternate reason, they might think that if I'm some how affiliated with DS.
I know when I go to other sites, I always think that people who are affiliated have a reason to speak good about the company, but the customer is always gonna say what they think regardless, which is one of the reasons I love this forum, you are free to say whatever you like, minus personal attacks, you tell people not to buy accessories from here and instead go to newegg for example, you got to love that and for that we Alex to thank for, I don't know any other admins like him ![]()
I think Alex does a great job of running and moderating the forum with DS staff chiming in whenever necessary. as for list of software, its much harder then you think, I have my hands full with my own software site, updating shareware would be a nightmare
@Ramdurand, if running another forum with over 46,000 members and 500 to 900 unique visits a day, running a website with over 5000 visitors a day, and running my own business plus helping out here as much as I can is called having nothing to do then ya I got nothing else to do (BTW I know you were joking ![]() thought I play along )
lol now lets not get off topic ![]() Edited by DST4ME - 22 Jun 2009 at 4:38pm |

Nero is a good one, CDBurnerXP Pro is just as good, and free, you show me the difference in the quality of the burned CD/DVD/bluray and I will give you a $100.
