Which combo is the fastest for a gamer that wants to run crysis at the BEST settings and any graphic intense games in the near future? Res 1920 x 1200 at around 60fps.
2x Crossfire ATI dual Radeon HD 5879's
OR
2x SLI Quad GeForce GTX 295
At only $260 difference I want the best. I don't want to wait for the new Nvidia card and fight with any problems that may need to be worked out.

quad sli should give you the best performance but no dx11.
you won't notice the difference between stage 1 oc and stage 2 tho, and the cpu needs to be i7 920. Edited by DST4ME - 02 Nov 2009 at 3:16pm |

Thanks for the info, I am trying to spec a rig that will last the 5 years I have the warranty for and also run any game that comes along during that time. For some reason I am having a problem going with the i7 920, are you sure overclocking will not stress the i7 920 comparied to the i7 960? I don't understand why Intel would charge $800 (i7 975)more for a chip that is no better in any way than one that cost $800 (i7 920) less, what is your take on this.
Again thanks for your time and interest,
Greg

well intel is not telling everybody that they can oc the 920 and not notice any difference in gaming and such.
intel also does not support ocing. one of the reasons I love DS is because the warranty they give you covers the oc. also to get the 920 to run at 3.7GHz is not much stress, your chip with oc should last minimum of 8 years, most likely longer. without the oc there is a huge difference between 2.66Ghz of 920 and 3.3GHz of 975. |
