So I am going with a new build. Time to retire my i7 2600k system. All help and advice is appreciated from the digital storm community. My first pair is i7 7700k w/z270 Gaming M7 Motherboard... My 2nd contender is i7 7800x w/x299 Gaming M7 Motherboard.

I am leaning towards the first because of the 4.2ghz, while the x series runs 3.5Ghz.

The 2nd paid has more cores, but to my understanding I won't utilize because I only use my PC for a few video games and internet browsing. Maybe watch HBO & Netflix from time to time. What are your opinions?

7440x is at 4.3 quad core, but you can change that with a i9 12 core or higher if you wanted too in a couple of years in the x299, you will want quad channel ram with more then 6 core in the x299 platform.

This gives you the option of going 6 core or higher in the same socket.

Otherwise 7700k, for gaming quad core is all you need.


Don't forget about oc, all speeds mentioned are stock, we oc our cpu here so that 3.5 can be 4.0 or higher
