And is able to stick a long device (sound card like the Asus Xonar D2X for example?)

Into the PCI-E x1 slot?  I notice that the heatsink sticks out just a bit and gets in the way.

I'm hoping the X-Fi Forte is able to fit.

I know, but I'm just confirming ahaha.

In fact uhm.  If the NF200 Classified had 3 GPUs in where the x16/x16/x16 kicks into effect for all 3.  What happens if you stick a sound card into the 4th slot?

Eh come again?  "Lane" isn't a term I used, if at all.  (I'm actually pretty weak with computer terms, I UNDERSTAND the layout of a motherboard, but beyond that I don't know past that lol)

By lose a lane you mean I'd lose the ability to use the 4th lane?

Each "lane" carries 500 Mbs of bandwidth Thats what the 16 or 8 means 16 lanes or 8 lanes.
The X58 basic boards have a total of 36 lanes, the classified 759 has an nf200 chip that adds another 16 lanes, like a mini IOH.
so maybe I helped, maybe I confused. lol bottom line you will be fine adding the sound card. Ouch

Oh that's not really a dramatic drop, so it's a worthwhile investment either way lol.

Will the PCI-E x1 also affect the lanes if something were inserted in there (Oh say... a NIC?)  And is the lone PCI slot it's on seperate connection?  Since it's not an Express type I presume it won't affect the Express slots.

Depedning on the GPU's say 3 GTX 275's a sound card and a pciex1 device, you will be fine. PCIe x1 is off the south bridge.. here is a pic, might make more sense.

When the 300 series come out, the top single card may saturate the 16 lanes, but thats for another day.. Smile

Ah I see thanks!  Are the NF200 variations (The E759 ones that hold the true tripe x16 lanes) being sold by a limited amount only?  I can expect... MAYBE this Christmas to be ordering, but would suck if the E759 would be sold out permanently by then.

By X-mas there will prolly be a new board. lol
I have the 760, the nf 200 creates heat, and adds latancy, which slows down the interface. Right now the 760 will post better graphic numbers, but with the 300 series graphic cards, it might reverse.
