Who makes the better processor - AMD or Intel?

I asked the above question at an AI site and got the following answer. How does this compare to your thinking? I am going to order a new system very soon so this is a question that I have.

Here is the answer I got:

AMD Ryzen and the Intel Core CPUs offer similar performance. As a general rule of thumb, AMD Ryzen processors are better at multi-tasking, while Intel Core CPUs are faster when it comes to single-core tasks.

However, Ryzen CPUs tend to offer better value for money.

I selected an AMD CPU for my Velox.

Why?

I haven't noticed a difference in performance. AMD is a tad cheaper, though price fluctuates over time. AMD has a very good reputation for supporting Linux distributions.

If your primary interest is gaming, then either Intel or AMD should give you sufficient performance for the foreseeable future.
