if that board can do quad fire with 4 cards then it will be a huge board, also dual cpu oc is tricky.
I'm sure some power users have use for it. |

Hey they actually took my advice even though they said there wasn't a market for it.. or maybe not, could be an idea that was just conceived.
Anyway, great news, I can't wait to get one. Edited by venom - 06 Jan 2010 at 10:55pm |

how will the cpu cooling work? i think liquid cooling would be easier for this motherboard .. 2 air coolers would be a mess wasting/blocking space/slots.

Now, imagine doubling up Gulftown i7 980-XE's on that, now that it's been announced that they're LG1336 socket.
12-core computing anyone? Edited by ablahblah - 04 Mar 2010 at 6:59pm |

This is the Evga classified SR-2 motherboard. I definately would love to see DS add a system for this. The motherboard itself is $600. Sure it would be expensive but imagine two i7 980x's at 4.4ghz ea and up to quad SLI graphics. It can also do up to 48gb ram if I remember correctly. Also usb 3.0. Desktop PC's seem to be taking a major jump forward now. There is also new more powerful RAM just released although I don't recall the details. I just joined the forums but I have been saving up to buy something awesome with this new hardware.

if its for gaming then half of the stuff you said will be pointless, but for other things I can see the use.

I would use it for Twitter.
NOT! I'd use it for gaming and developing games/animation. Also I'm sure in a few years this will be just an average gaming pc :p |

there is no way in the next 4 years if not longer a dual cpu system with 4 gpus is gonna be average, or a good gaming pc if you ask me, but for game/animation dev, it would be a good choice, not sure if sli/cf comes into play in game dev tho, but I'm no expert in the subject.

like I stated before, and before. you can't use 980x's in in this board, you have to use dual QPI CPU's.... why doesn't anybody pay attention.
