Im currently in the market for a high end gaming PC seeing as how uncle sam has decided to finally pay me.
![]() And my budget is about 3500$ So why should I buy from you folks here at DS and not your competitors cyberpower, ibuypower, dell/alienware etc.... I ask because I need a rig that can run a 46" Samsung LED TV and a 24" Acer widescreen with no issues at all (imagine if it had to run the spaceshuttle). Old faithful my SFF pc hasn't died on my me yet even though its been to more country's than some people, regardless its time to retire him to a family member who doesn't play games as much as me, it's spec are as follows... AMD Athalon 64 x2 Core 4200+ 2.20 GHZ 4g DDR2 Corsair Ram EVGA Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT OC 150g 10,000 rpm HD Its a pretty nice rig rates a 5.0 in windows, but I want bigger and better. Wow long post.... So convince me ! Thanks in advance. |

@apache664,
To be honest, there's a lot to say. It would be difficult for everyone to try to summarize it for you however, just to name a few:
1. Checkout our forums and customer reviews section, that's a direct reflect on the great products and service we provide: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/forum_topics.asp?FID=15
2. Our forums are full of happy customers that stay with us and help other new customers. That should directly show you the level of customer retention we have.
3. We are the only gaming computer company to have an A+ rating with the BBB since 2002.
4. Checkout our videos, our philosophy, etc...
There is a lot. To be honest, you get what you pay for. I'm not going to bash any competitor. If your looking for a very low price, you won't get the level of service/testing/support that you will from someone like Digital Storm.
However, don't forget, this is an investment. A little more will at the very least will allow you to obtain first-class quality and customer service.

Alex, thanks for the reply. I wasn't looking for a competitor bashing, I just wanted to see how the question would be handled. The response says alot. I did a full review of your site and I liked what I seen, that's why I made the post :).

well go read the cyberpower and ibuy forums
all you read are complaints about half assed computers and bad support, you only see a few people here posting who have minor problems, and they are fixed quickly. Edited by <8) slunK parade - 12 Dec 2009 at 3:28am |

@<8) slunK parade, Rest assured I visited every site I listed above, plus a few others. This wasn't something I just stumbled into blindly. I did my homework.
But I regress lets talk about PC's! The fun part ![]() As I asked earlier, how do the solid state hd's compare to the 10k rpm hd's. Are they pretty solid? Other question I have is about video cards and SLI. When looking at the older but cheaper cards in SLI vs 1 of the newest cards what should I be looking for and paying attention to? Thank you. |

@apache664, your config:
your case is not the best case, change it ssd I chose is better then veloci 275 is great card but it does not have dx11 support, if you don't care about that then 2 x 275 is good. drop the upgrade fans you don't need them, specially if you go with haf. if you want xp support go with win7 pro. |

Just gonna go with the 1T western digital HD atm and put the SSD on the upgrade list And im gonna go with 2x 285 1g Dropped the upgraded fans, though I might add them back in (does it matter)? Thought I had clicked win7 pro, misclick ftw Thanks |

don't go with 2 x 285 its pointless, there is very little difference between 275 and 285, like 4 fps, and when you sli its even less noticeable.
in short save your money since you see no performance gain and go with 2 x 275. upgrade fans don't matter specially with haf. |

Ok sounds good.
Dropping the card to 275's opens my budget some Would it be good performance upgrade from the i7 920 to the 940 (if both were overclocked), or would i be like the cards not really a huge leap |

The HAF is a great case for air flow. It will keep your computer cool and the 920 overclocks like a champ. Mine is running at 3.3ghz and the entire system is quiet and very cool running. Your config looks great and will bring you lots of fun and with that case many upgrades in the future. Really the only fan noise I hear is from my 295 card if I crank it, which I don't. The extra fans may be a noise issue more than anything else I am guessing.

Sounds good! Just gonna stick with the OC 920 and use that extra budget money for some green led fans to go with the green lighting. Now its time to do the deed and hit buy.
Thanks for all the great comments and tips. |

I would keep in touch with DS and see what the temps look like with the 922 case or if they know what they'll be like. Do a comparison. That way you can come back here and tell us so we can be better informed when recommending products. They may recommend you up your case just to make sure all is well.
If you're wondering about what just 1 gpu looks like, go to Brisleeps review in the customer review section and look at her pictures, then imagine another one right beside it producing just as much heat. That said, where you're putting this monster is as important as case size, don't block the airflow k? |

congrats on your order !! i ordered almost the same same specs as yours and it arrived last friday, but i went with the red led fan upgrade and blue interior lighting. yes, it's somewhat loud, but i like it, haha. the haf 922 is great .. i only chose it b/c it has dust filters unlike it's older brother, but the dimensions are similar so it doesn't matter. i fit the gtx 295 and there's still a lot of space inside. 1 minor mistake was that the le motherboard doesn't have full 2.0 x 16 pci-e support .. it's actually 16x, 2* 8x, and 4x slots, not 2* 16x as i had hoped. but it's ok, i'm not an extreme gamer but i work with architecture intensive 3d apps. although i'm downloading crysis now as i type.
anyway, have fun with your new DS !! the 2000 display is a nice touch to the haf 922 >,<

@ DST4ME After further review I will be switching to the HAF 932. This will be the first full atx case for me and sli so i wasnt catching on but after doing some reading I got the point
Bringing up the SLI and what philiporphillip posted and looking up the info on the pcie x16 slots offered on the boards im now leaning towards the evga x58 3x sli classiffied (so i can run both of those 275s on x16) as opposed to the normal 3x sli just cause it looks better and allows more room for upgrades if i so choose... What do you guys think |

for the 275 I don't think it will matter much if you have 2 x 16x lanes or not.
classified is a good board tho, and I agree it will have more room for upgrades with 2 cards. |

good choice .. i would've also gone with the classified motherboard. if you're an extreme gamer, it will suit you well. if you hadn't gone with the classified, one gtx 295 would be running in .5 speed and the other in the 16x. maybe it wouldn't make much of a difference, i don't know, but it's best to take the full advantage and the classified certainly does that.

Yea its a bit over priced but with the holiday deal going on, it puts it with in my budget. Which is nice might as well use it while its there :).
I got to thinking ahead as in what upgrades I would want next year namely SSD and Nvidia Fermi and that mobo would be awesome for that. I'm gonna call them Monday and have the changes done.
