Hey gang,

I -think- I know the answer but as my last custom build is several years old, I've never dealt with this and the way it's described in the product description and a few comments in other forums leave me unsure.

The ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero, the wifi and bluetooth functionality is built in, yes? No additional network hardware/antenna needed?

Onboard LAN
LAN Chipset     1 x Intel 2.5Gb Ethernet
Max LAN Speed     2.5Gbps
Wireless LAN     Wi-Fi 6E
2x2 Wi-Fi 6E (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax)
Supports 2.4/5/6GHz frequency band*

* WiFi 6E 6GHz regulatory may vary between countries, and function will be ready in Windows 11 or later.

Bluetooth     Bluetooth v5.2

Yes, no other hardware needed. In your Parts box when your PC arrives there will be an antenna you attach to the rear of the PC where all your USB connections are.

Elaborating on what @fwfdfireman said...

There are two versions -- I do not know which the Maximus includes:

It has a 180-degree tilt adjustability and a magnetic base

This one require a bit of assembly and it's a little confusing if you only use the Asus documentation. Thankfully, someone posted a simple assembly demo:

You'll connect the antenna wires to the two coaxial-type connectors between the USB and audio ports. Either wire can go to either connector.

• Ryzen 5600X, ROG Strix B550-I, RX 6900 XT, 32GB Vengeance, 960GB MP510
• be quiet 500DX, i7 11700K, ROG Strix Z590-E, RTX 4080 ProArt + RTX 4070 Ti ProArt, 64GB HyperX Fury, 2TB SN850

That's what happens when you let a marketing/designer play engineer. ;)
