I am new to the computer building world, and was thinking of putting my operating system on a solid state drive, and then use a regular hard drive to install my programs.

Is this at all possible?  What are the pros and cons?  What size SSD would I need to install Win7 Professional?

Thanks for your input!

Thats the right idea, OS/apps on a small fast SSD, games/movies/music/media on a HDD.

But only if you have the budget for one, SSD space is very expensive. You should start a thread in the configuration section with your budget, what resolution your monitor supports up to, and what you will be using the PC for, then people can help you best configure something.
