Topic: Windows 10 ??? Posted: 30 Aug 2017 at 1:22pm |
Hi all, what is everyone's take on window's 10. I am building a new PC and want the best OS for games but it seems like Windows 10 comes with a hefty price (spyware and data information that they obtain, lost of privacy and updates that cant be stopped, etc)
What are all the options out there, or is windows 7 my only choice. What would you all do? Is Linux a viable option? Edited by Joel - 30 Aug 2017 at 2:24pm |

if you want today and future OS support from M$ you'd better go with W10. W10 also offers more gaming support as that is what mainstream developers are building games on. like any OS it has its drawbacks.

I also vote Windows 10. Why fight it ? Plus, what privacy ? Everyone is watching.

I hate to be the eco, but windows version don't really mean anything, first your isp knows everything you do, then there is Google doing the same exact thing.
I love my win7 pc but I have no issues wuth my win 10. When i want to be private in win 10 i do the same things as on my win 7, different profile, vpn/proxy, etc., etc., But even after all that I understand that my info is still no 100% private, for that I would need your pc with win 10, a wifi and 45 - 47 proxies, tor could be involved..... I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but hooking your monitor to the abacus probably gave you spyware.

UPDATE.....After getting rid of the spyware, oc'ing and putting it under water in the sink, those beads are flying across the monitor.

I don't know, man. Ever since I updated to Windows 10, everything's been slower. Too much junk in it because I now have two of some programs. One in "app" form and one in the old program form. It's just hella confusing. That's my experience, at least. If you have the patience to comb through everything, it seems like it works well for other people.

There is an enterprise version of win 10 where you can disable all telemetry, but you have to pay a monthly subscription fee. I'm not a conspiracy nut but the excessive data collection, even in the least intrusive mode, is still too much and the forced updates are a nogo.
