well I just upgraded to windows 7 from vista. Everything seems to be working except I have no sound. I have a creative soundblaster Xfi fatal 1ty pci express sound card. I went to the creative web site and upgraded everything. When I run the creative diagnostics it all checks out and I do get sound when I run the left, right, center, sl, sr at the diagnostics. But when I try and listen to music or play the news or something I get no sound. Sound icon is on full volume. Creative knob is on full volume. Any ideas or combatibility issues I should know about?

Have you checked the default device for sound output?

I guess the first obvious question would be are you plugged into the right port on the backside of your rig (typically green plug port)?

Yes everything is hooked up correctly. Updating all the drivers was the first thing I did. But the problem corrected itself with me doing nothing thru microsoft auto update. I turned it on today and sound is working fine and so is windows 7 allready see many improvements over vista. But thanks everyone and just to let everyone know my system as whole finally seems to be working at 100%. Not that it matters much since in a couple of years America may be bankrupt or the earth may pole shift or one of the many other problems happen that everyone is blogging and reading about. Jeez I hope its all Y2k scare stuff. 2 to 3 years I guess I should just spend all my savings and have a good time while I can. Do we live in scary times or am I just being parinoid.

PCs are funny that way.  Sometimes all it requires is a reboot.
