I recently read that OS discs are no longer standard with these DS builds. I don't mind paying extra as long as the option still exists. If I decided to use win 7, is this option still present? I'm only asking because it's not listed in the config menu. Thanks.

Sorry, but we are no longer able to obtain restore discs for Windows 7 as Microsoft is discontinuing the operating system.

Use this link to download and burn your own ISO file for any later installs.

I'm guessing that 8.1 isn't an option for a new system either?

Never hurts to ask. :) Besides after I thought about it longer, it probably wouldn't make any difference since the new telemetry would probably be embedded in the newer discs anyway. I have a backup plan, dual boot. Use 10 exclusively for gaming and linux mint for everything else. I ask myself if I'm just a conspiracy nut, but then MS posts disclaimers like this in their privacy statement.
'We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to protect our customers or enforce the terms governing the use of the services." Guess I'm an idiot because I find this especially troubling. It seems like an intermediate step such as running it by a judge is warranted. Thanks for the feedback guys. When I'm ready to pull the trigger, I'll be back for config advice. |
