I think it's become the cool thing to do to hate on windows 8, sure metro is a silly idea for the average PC as it's really a tablet UI, but one click and you are on a more normal desktop. I have 8 on 2 pc's at home that I bought this year, and it boots up much quicker than 7 did, and frankly I have had zero issues with it thus far.
If I had a PC using windows 7 I would leave it on 7, as 8 offers only a faster boot time, but it is far from being the crap OS that Vista was pre service pack, and at least IMO a solid OS. |

It is a very popular thing to hate on Windows 8 for really no reason.
I upgraded to Windows 8 the first day it came out, for no real reason aside from I wanted to be one of the first to try out the newest OS. After getting used to it for a few hours I've really loved it. It looks modern, it feels fast and responsive, and I love the metro interface. In fact, it's because of Windows 8 that I'm looking into buying a tablet convertible for class. In my opinion, Windows 8, particularly on a touch screen device, blows 7 out of the water in productivity. |

ive used windows 8 on the surface tablet, and i thought it was pretty good.
i doubt i will upgrade either of my computers to it any time soon tho, as i dont like the idea of the tiles w/out a touch screen. if i could get a touch screen monitor i might consider it. |

I got windows 8 with my school laptop and after 2 weeks of trying to get used to the metro UI I said screw it and downloaded classsicshell and had it look just like windows 7 again. I will say it boots up faster and feels more responsive than windows 7 but that abysmal interface should have been left for tablets.

I have been using Windows 8 since it came out and have had no issues with it. I also picked up the new UI pretty quickly. I still find new tricks. I don't get all the hate on Microsoft or the blame for the downturn in PC sales. Apple is also on a downturn for their PC's so it can't be Windows 8 fault. Can it? ;)

Tablets and smart phones are the driver for a downturn in pc sales, IMHO.
Of course, gaming rigs are an entirely different animal.

I completely agree.
This coming from someone who doesn't have a smart phone, ![]() Though to be fair I did finally upgrade from my Motorola V220, to my Samsung Eternity, five years ago. ![]() |

I am holding off on Windows 8 but appreciate seeing how others have tried it out. Maybe it will be in my future too.
