So, I was not sure there to post this, guess this is a s good forum as any. I have this config: 783285 with a few custom changes, extra side fans etc...
Its been running like a dream, it just rocks. Big shout out to all the DS crew for building this beast. Anyway, so I have a copy of windows 8 professional here, and have been debating installing it on this, but want to get some opinions off people here. How is performance with win8 for you all (if you have updated.)Any gotcha's should look out for ?. I have herd that nvidia drivers are not quite ready yet for high performance in win8, is that correct ? Is it even worth updating or ? Thanks |

IMHO Windows 8 should be left for tablets/small laptops/cell phones. In years to come, it will be the operating system of choice as Microsoft drives the industry forward. It does have some better disk management/file transfer options over Windows 7.
Windows 7 will be around for a very long time and will remain the OS of gamers. |

I really like Windows 8, I've got it installed on all of my PCs. To me it feels modern and fast, and it looks really good.
Performance-wise the only thing I've noticed is faster boot times. Games behave the exact same on Windows 7 & 8. I'd say upgrade, there's really nothing to lose going from 7 to 8 since you already bought it. If you don't like the lack of start button you can put it back. I've gotten so used to Windows 8 that when I use a computer with Windows 7 the start button actually annoys me. |

I've had a few co-workers say that as well, but for someone who hasn't spent tons of time in 8 since it got out of beta its crazy to think about not having the ole' start button |

I have it on my PC and laptop and really like it, the boot times rock and I have encountered no issues.
