I use Ventrilo and had been experiencing very bad lag. I went to the Ventrilo website to look for Windows 7 lag issues and realized that I have the 32 bit Ventrilo installed on my 64 bit machine. When i tried to install Ventrilo 64 bit I get "The Windows Installer Service can not be accessed." I also had this issue while trying to install iTunes. I never got iTunes installed either. My machine was Order Number 10801 purchased 11/19/2009. Until this, the machine has been awesome. Suggestions please?

can you install it in xp mode? I'm just guessing here, I have no experience with that software.
I see one person suggested this and it worked for others with other softwares: This is what finally worked for me: 1. At Start type "regedit" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Services MSIServer right click on WOW64, select "Modify" Change Value data from "1" to "0" 2. At "Start" type "run" type "services.msc" go to "Windows Installer" and stop and start the program. 3. Reboot computer. backup your registry before you make any changes to it.
