I have an external drive with videos ive ripped from youtube and such using videoget, the videos worked via windows media player 12 at my old house. I move down town and now for some odd reason it wont recognize them anymore, doesn't give me a codec error or anything I just hear audio. I thought maybe the codec was gone somehow, so I downloaded FLV multimedia player and they work! I have tried disabling the windows feature via programs and features, then re-enabling and to no gain. I prefer windows media player, just wish someone could give me a hand on how to fix it...the videos in question are done using .mpg ...any ideas

But like how do I tell whats what and what to get? It worked just fine until I moved. Only thing ive done since then is install all my windows updates ive put off for the last few months, no other software was added...and my installed programs are rather simple, so I don't see why there would be an all of a sudden conflict..I need the codec pack that comes with media player, cause only other codec ive manually went and got was xvid...anywhere to get that?

Just downloaded "Gpot Codec Identifier" and it says both audio and video codecs for the media are installed, Identified them as MPEG-1 ... so what gives, why no picture ugg!
