Has anybody else had problems with Windows Update and the Nvidia 295 or the ethernet card? Here are the error codes I see when I run update:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 Error 80070103
Realtek GBE NIC Error 80070103

A quick Google search suggests that you are trying to install an NVIDIA driver that is older than the one you're running already. Are you letting M$ download drivers for your ad in cards?
Also, this error appears to not be specific to the 295

ya you don't want to install any drivers from ms for your gpu and sound card, so hide those. it both your sound card I guess and your gpu.

It was for the the GPU & Ethernet Card. Thanks for the advice! I will just hide them as you recommended.

ya your GPU and sound card drivers always come from the manufacturer, so skip on those.

I am having update problems with windows vista. I spoke with Sarah the other day who was very helpful but our solution didnt work. The windows automatic update is not working and I cant update manually either. I cant install office, itunes, adobe or any other programs that arent already there. 3/4 through an installation I get an error 1935 HR results 08x0070002. I have tried to resolve this though the MS help feature and done all they asked including deleting temp files etc and renaming a file to no avail. I have a pending email with their support team. Any ideas?

The tea leaves are vague, but suggest that your copy of the OS has certificaton issues. At least that's one thing 08x0070002 is associated with. It also fits the symptoms. Of course, I could be completely wrong. "Everything I needed to know, I learned from Google." Edited by Bill the Cat - 18 May 2009 at 9:31pm |

I got other things to try off google with no luck. I hope it isnt a cert issue since DS just sent it back to me after a repair with the original copy of vista installed.

Did that...she said to call microsoft since it isnt a hardware issue. However when looking at the update log. It was obvious the .net framework and some other updates failed while at DS for repair. A little disappointing after not having my computer for a month. I got a response from microsoft so well see what happens.

Sarah...yes that was me and none of the downloads work now. I cant install any new programs and keep getting the 1935 80070002 error. Not disappointed with you but this computer has never worked right...now it is stable and I am grateful but the windows update log showed that the .net framework and some other updates failed to load on may 8 while at DS. I have done everything the ms help tool has advised and nothing works. I am awaiting another email from ms help.

Nah chief, I entirely understand, I would be frustrated too. Lets try the deleting the updates like harleyman suggested, and I will continue to look into it and see if I cant find anything else too if that doesnt work.

I know of a very effective one step progam, if you're willing to hold him down while I apply the roll duct tape.
Course, I just figured EdH had gotten his Caps Lock key stuck again. Edited by Bill the Cat - 20 May 2009 at 6:33pm |

Sarah and Harley...I have done all that. When I try to dowload the update tool or do new updates, I cant. I get the same error message. I am unable to install or update anything at this point including the ability to add new updates. I deleted the update temp folder etc. When I go to the link about the particular error I am seeing I get several options to attempt. Done them all and nothing works so now awaiting word from microsoft. Just hoping I dont have to do a clean install of vista since I have a partitioned drive that is otherwise running smoothly now.

Any chance of going back to a system restore point before this trouble started?

Not that Firefox wouldn't be the problem, HM, but I use FF as my default browser and Exploder as my secondary and I always get the updates smoothly. I've forgotten the OP's OS (32 or 64 bit), but my wife has the 64 bit version of Vista Premium and there are times the update won't load all that's there. In other words, there was the latest round that came through, around 7 or 8 updates at one time, and all but 4 made it through and the others wouldn't load. I had to restart the update process to get them to load. Maybe it's a 64 bit issue, issue

I did that Harley...doesnt work. When I try the check for updates after that process it gives the same error. I am using IE not firefox and I do have 64 bit.

Vista is the first option and xp updates just fine. Interesting. I would have no idea how to fix this.. I put xp on so I could play some older games that are incompatible with vista.
