Evening all,

Anyone have any good wireless network routers they would recummend?
Running Vista64.
Looking for speed and distance and at least one hardwire connector too.
Thinking of upgrading soon and the network stuff just drives me nuts. :)

Thanks in advance.
Deasun

I use a Linksys WRT610N its pretty expensive but if you look for deals on it then its a good deal, I got mine for 50$ but that's because bestbuy put 49$ on the ticket and not 149$ they forgot the 1 =P but it is a good router one of the best that uses draft-n tech and wirelessN is the newest tech, it offers faster wireless speeds as well as a bigger wireless area, of course you have to have a card in a laptop compatiable with wirelessN but trust me its worth it, it also has 4 gigabit ports so no worries for wired hookups, if you do get the router through, I would suggest not using the easylink software it comes with, it just creates problems.

As somebody who is currently using the "best" DLink router, I heartily recommend buying the Linksys routers. Embarrassed This DLink I'm using has been beyond annoying using it with my iPhone and the range isn't any better than the old Microsoft-brand piece of crap it replaced.

I use the D-Link 4300 Gaming Router and it works just great, the range is pretty good for me and my family.  We have 5 computers hooked to it, 1 direct connect and 4 wireless,  I will be adding another direct connect if my DS rig ever gets here.  We can use it across the street at a friends house as well.  Both my daughters use there iPhones and they both connect just fine without any problems.

Well the newer version of that is the Linksys WRT610N, but the 600N looks so much cooler, but I would figure the 610N has better quality draft-n technology than the 600N plus you also have to do your reserach because some draft-n routers arent all that great with the new technology, but the upgraded version of the 600N is the 610N, which comes with a massive load of features. Plus it seemed so much easier to setup than any other router I have had in the past, but like I said ignore the EasyLink software it creates a million problems.

Haha, good luck, but yea the only real gripe I have about the thing is bigger than most routers, probbly because it has no depth and the fact that the antennas are built right into the router, but yea other than that, it can fit on top of a desktop and I have had no problems, the cable box for the internet was more of a problem than that router was =P hope "She who must be obeyed" says yes, just tell her you never get anything, and she is ruining.....wait nvm don't say that haha =P gl

I have the Linksys WRT610-N, just got it and very pleased with it.  It replaced my WRT54-G.  Here's my recommendation, go to the Linksys forums and read up on it.  I used the LELA software and it worked without a hitch.  Absolutely no issues using the software.  However, many people have had issues using the software to install it.  You can always call support and let them walk you through it.  Just go read testimonials about the routers.  I will say that the majority of testimonies on the routers below the 610-N are not good.

When it comes to hardware installs I find it is best to let windows, from say XP on do the finding and installing of needed software. Only if that fails do I try the CD that came with the box.
This process has not failed me yet. :)
I have gotten into more trouble by running those cds then I care to mention.
