I wanting to buy a Laptop will mainly be used for work but can still used forgaming.

1. Budget: $900-1200 but could go up to 1400ish.

2.Expectations: 3 hour battery life during surfing, playing a movie,  causal gaming, or typing evaluations. It should have a way to output audio/video to large screen monitor.

3. Usage: Be used to access office webmail, write quarterly evaluations, store evaluations, manuals, encrypt files, few large games and 10 older steam games.
It will mainly used to work once a month for three days and play couple of hours a night.

4.. Windows 7 pro will be the operating system

I would definitely go with the second one if you could swing the money. As someone who owns an xm15, I can tell you firsthand that the integrated HD4000 graphics are better than the 630M. The 670 is definitely necessary for gaming. While you may still get playable framerates, they will be awful, even with a resolution that low, and the x15E screen would definitely look better than the 1366x768 screen on the xm15.

For battery life the x15E battery is (I believe) about 76Whrs, whereas the xm15 battery is about 49Whrs. Assuming that you disable the graphics card, I could see you getting five hours on the x15E with screen brightness at the maximum level. The xm15 will get you 3 hrs on a full battery with screen at highest brightess.

They are both great computers, but the xm15 is more portable and processor oriented, while the x15E is much better for gaming with the 670.
