Anyone else have this, I only get it in Battlefield 2142, seems widespread. Just curious if anyone else here has it too

My currant rig (not the one on order from DSO) has a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer with 5.1 speakers.  I have never had any sound problems in any of the BattleField series, and I have played them all.  I have no clue what could be the cause, all I can say is check your connections, besure your drivers are up to date and make sure you have your speakers set right in game, in the console and on your system software.

You say that it is widespread, but I have not experienced it.  Just my observation, I could be wrong and maybe I am just lucky not to have an issue.

I have had sound prob's w/ this game.  I'm currently using the X-FI Fatal1ty sc, and for some reason had a similar problem.

Before playing BF2142, click run, dxdiag, and go to sound tab.  Turn your hardware acceleration level to basic / normal.  I had mine at full / advanced, and issues.  No issues at basic / normal.  Of course I put it back to full/ adv once I'm done playing this game.  Play with this...helped me.

I had to send my system back because something funky was happening with the graphics cards.  As far as the X-fi is concerned it is one of those things I wish I had not gotten.  The X-fi card just is substandard to my mind.  It crackles under xp and sometimes randomly starts squealing under vista.  That squealing cut way back once I upgraded to the most recent drivers.

And the Xfi does not work under Linux at all that is an annoyance.  I actually purchased a usb external sound card in order to use it instead of the x-fi, I prefer it in fact.

This was talked about in another post in the past.  I, too, had problems like this but it was due to my bluetooth keyboard and mouse.  I went to the extent of getting rid of some very old Altec Lansing desktop speakers and buying a set of Logitech Z-2300 speakers.  It did the same thing with those.  I then gave the Logitechs to my wife, because they didn't compare to the next set I bought in sound quality, and bought the Bose Companion III desktop speakers.

All the problems that you're talking about were eliminated when I got rid of the blue tooth.  Bluetooth competes on the same signal levels as your sound card.  Like your cell phone tweaks through your speakers when it's running cycles in the background or when calls are coming through and you hear the distortion before the ring.  The cell does it on a much lesser level than keyboards and mice.

Are you using bluetooth keyboards and mice?

By the way, my soundcard has been flawless from day one.  I would highly recommend the SB X-FI Fatality.
