Hello DigitalStorm, I have been in the market for a laptop for a little while, and then I remembered. Im a follower of the best computer building company in the world, DS.

My laptop over the summer decided to overheat on me. It was a dell xps m1530. After talking with dell, it turns out that my warranty had expired the previous friday (I called on monday :X), and after taking it apart and testing it, it turns out that the processor fan gave out, and it overheated.

Long story short, I need a laptop, and one that will not overheat.
I have a cooling pad, which I know will help, and the laptop I am looking at is the "x15 Level 3" config

So what is your ideas on the x15? Does it have good cooling? It seems to have some pretty big fans on the back.

Thanks

laptops will overheat no matter what you do, I have a cooler that has 3 x 120mm fans, I changed the 3 fans to zalman fans to make it more powerful, yet the laptop gets hot anyways.

keep in mind that DS does not have its own laptops, and the warranty on their laptops is only one year for parts, personally I like to have warranty on the laptop for at least 5 years, if I plan on owning it that long. You can get longer warranty from DS for $99 for each year.

Now my laptop is not a DS laptop, so I don't want to give you the wrong idea.

as for your Dell problem, go and complain to them on tweeter, you get much better service there, they will probably help you there.

Thanks. Do you recommend that I buy a DSO laptop, or a name brand one?

If you actually want to game on a laptop, the only thing that DS offers that's better than the rest of the competition is the x17E. That model I think is better ventilated than most other gaming laptops, and it has to because it's running a processor type not even designed for laptops in the first place (X58 i7s). If you don't want to go with that, name brand may or may not be better than what DSO offers; for example the Asus G73JW customizes and sells for less than what the x17 here would be with the same specs; but warranty plays a role. Anyways, well, I haven't heard too many people complain about the GTX 460's lack of power within the G73JW platform, and I haven't seen any other SB laptops out yet, so for the time being yeah go with DS.

I know the ASUS gaming laptops are pretty good.  But, after researching customer reviews online and seeing consumer reports ratings on Toshiba's laptops I looked at there Qosimo line of laptops.  If I were to get a laptop instead of a DS desktop, I am strongly considering the

Qosmio X500-Q930S Laptop

Check it out and see what you think.  It is a very powerful desktop replacement with great gaming potential.  And for the quality, price, and features it seems hard to beat.
