Thanks in advance for any help!

Budget: $2,600-2,800 possibly

Expectations: Want this to last through the rest of college, but at least 3+ years playing games in reasonably high detail. Will connect it to a 60" LG often for movies and for fun...

Usage: Mainly gaming, fps, mmos, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, anything that tickles my fancy... School stuff, like all the Office apps, movie watching, possibly some future movie editing(never had a good enough comp for it), and surfing the web.

3 questions: 1) I was looking at the 240gb SSD, do I need it?   2) Bigfoot network card worth it over the Intel 6300?   3) Nvidia GTX 675m vs AMD Radeon HD 7970M? Is it worth looking into if DS could configure it in?

1)
That depends. Check your current hard drive, and determine your own needs. Generally, it is best to assume at least 50% higher data storage over the same amount of time.

2)
If you are going to be playing MMO's often, I would suggest the Bigfoot.

3)
They are relatively close, but the 675 is much better in terms of power consumption (although by no means do I mean that you will get a decent amount of battery life, no matter what you pick). However, DS is located very close to (and, correct me if I'm wrong, Alex, but I believe they are somehow partnered with) NVidia, so the 675 may also be a better choice for that reason.
DS xm15 Stage 4
i7-3820 (2.7GHz/3.7GHz)
16GB 1600MHz DDR3
GT 630, 1GB
240GB Intel 520

but i read everywhere that ppl prefer nVidia bcz of driver problems in radeon hope those are fixed now bcz looking at benchmarks and scores hd7970m beats gtx675m by around 15%-50% or maybe more idk xD some games were listed as same fps tho so idk but none were less frames with hd7970m so it is diffidently a plus Strong

We haven't seen a lot of driver related issues with the AMD Radeon M series.

Hey Alex...I'm glad I read this. You're still working on my laptop order so I just called your customer service and asked them if they would upgrade me and bill my cc.

Hopefully you can do this; I'd really appreciate it Big%20Smile

Finally pulled the trigger! Order confirmation email at 3:35 p.m. CST, and received a phone call from Brian at 4:18 p.m. CST to confirm that the order was processed. Crazy quick service, thanks DS! Now the wait officially begins!

Cool....what video card did you decide upon? They told me the 7970M won't be in till June 8th but I think the wait will be worth it.

Don't forget.....it's only excessive if you check the status more that 5 times a day ..... LOL  Big%20Smile
