Seeing as x38 is getting rave reviews and is seemingly more stable and overclock/future proof than 680i, when can we expect to see x38 options in the config?

On that note, since only 2 (that I know of) x38 boards support ddr2 (the rest have moved on to ddr3) Im only going to assume that when x38 becomes a DSO option, ddr3 will be as well.

Right?

X38 and DDR3 has been available for a while now but they are quite expensive... ( about $300 for board and $500 for memory =\ )

You can custom order the x38 board and ddr3 memory if you would like them. Just give them a call.

They will most likely not appear on the config because Digital Storm are partners with Nvidia and x38 does not support SLI.

You can install multiple graphic cards on x38 for a multiple monitor setup but you can not run them in SLI for the extra performance.

You would need hacked drivers and a SLI bridge if you wanted real SLI on a x38.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

Oh well, looks like I'm going to have to wait for nVidia's new boards.

That new G90 they have will hopefully be pci-express 2.0, and I can only assume the boards will follow suit with the industry and support 45nm Intels, DDR3, etc, etc.

Sorry. It's me again.

Reading up I found that the nforce 780i/790i boards should be released next month.

The 8800GT and upcoming 8800GTS 512mb already supports PCI-E 2.0. Nvidia's GeForce 9 series cards will also have full support for PCI-E 2.0 and DX10.1. The D9E (8800 successor) isn't expected until late next year.. earliest you might see it will be Q2 08.

Nvidia's nForce 780i was initially slated for release in November 2007 but it got delayed because it is having issues with the new Intel processors (45nm). Intel is making Nvidia's life a lot harder because they want SLI for their x38s/x48s but Nvidia wants SLI to be exclusive.

You might see it next month... you might not =x

Don't get me wrong, I think competition is essential to the ideals of a free economy...but, these two companies simply BELONG together. I mean AMD and ATI are playing this sweet little deal and getting revenue indirectly from intel/nvidia when a consumer purchases either a intel board or nvidia card and purchases an ATI/AMD product. Intel and nvidia are just stubborn.
