Newbie here to the forum........... I'm in the process of spec'ing-out a new DS system and I'm trying to decide between Windows XP or Vista. I have XP now and I've heard mixed reviews on Vista. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks - I did a search and didn't see much on this forum. I read a news headline where MS may keep XP alive and available.

vista is great, the switch is a little bumpy, but if you take the time to learn vista you will be better off, unless you want to end up like those people who still run windows 98 because they are afraid to switch to XP
whats the point of building a monster system and not getting the most out of your OS, the "resource hogging" can easily be removed from Vista with all the tweaks availible, im idling as low as 26% ram down from 32-35 after putting some time in to learn the OS

IMHO, the short answer is, "Stick with XP".
That said, there really is no short answer.

If cost is not a problem, DS will do a Dual Boot system, you just have to pay additional for the second OS. This way you can take advantage of games like Crysis and others that on vista that will be coming later.
Most of the issues with Vista has been with the Vendor Drivers and as time goes on those issues have been cleaned up and will continue to get better.

Thanks for the input. GuessWho - you mentioned SLI issues. I'm going with one card for the moment so I should be okay. gdhart - good suggestion on dual boot, but does this potentially present its own set of issues?

The only real issue is that if a piece of software you use is needed on both XP & Vista, you have to install it on both
OS's
