whats this i hear about XP dieing in June? will didgital strorm still be selling computers will the duel boot after this time has passed? |

Microsoft has said they will stop selling XP in June, thats about all i know about it. Though who knows if they will go though with it. They will probably have a lot of pressure on them not to stop, but microsoft is big, and they seem hell bent on forcing a vista change over, considering all the "vista only" things that seem to be coming out lately. |

Vista is icky! installed it on my laptop and it is bad, not to mention it is almost 20Gb !?!?!

exactly which is why i wanna get my Desktop with XP, and vista(for halo 2 only) so do you think that Digital storm will sell XP after MS stops selling it?

Doubtful. I mean where are they gonna get new copies of XP? Im sure after microsoft stops selling it, then companies will be forced just to use up whats left in their stocks. DS isnt a huge company so my guess is their backstock of items isnt that large.

i don't think MS will do it so soon, June is about 2 months away and for people who don't have the highest spec computers will start writing complaints. Heck they even might keep it for digital download =S on top of that people are offering it pirated so i don't think it is gonna "Die" on a community stand point, Depending on what path you choose! PS: DS will most likely offer it on special request other than not having it at all.

I read somewhere, but I can not remember all the details, that they will stop selling it in june and continue to support it only until 2010. That means in 2 years no more updates or patches or anything. I have Vista on my DSO rig (which is currantly in their shop for fixing) and I hate it. Sure, my games like Crysis and Bio-shock look sweet, but everything else is all buggy in Vista.
I wish I had gotten XP on that system sometimes. I have XP Pro on my older desktop that I am again using while my DSO gets fixed and I just love it.
And office 2007 blows chuncks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its the worst program I have ever used.

well my Bros system has Vista and he runs COD4 and it looks horrible compared to XP, all the lighting is messed up, and the textures are Super bad too...

I can't imagine that has anything to do with Vista. I've played through COD4, BioShock, Crysis, FFOW and the Orange Box with everything set to max and all of them look fantastic. He may want to look at other things that are creating that issue other than the OS.

Do some deductive problem solving with that and try and eliminate other things first. You may find it's not the OS. List your bro's specs here. Maybe we can help him figure that out.

Most of Vistas problems has to do with driver issues.
Get that straightened out and Vista PCs are fine.
I have found no problems running any Sw to date.
Except Flash in IE64. Man I wish they'd come out with that already.

The only Vista problem I have had is getting my network print server to work with it, and I blame that on Linksys. They said they have no intention of coming out with updated drivers. Otherwise, I haven't even noticed the difference between XP and Vista, other than Vista looks nicer.
