noctua is much better, you would be going backward, zalmans are very loud comparing.

They're some of the loudest fans around. They are very high RPM for one, and they're not particularly designed for quietness aside.

also you told me they could paint the fans but again craig told me to instead get led fans

LED fans would be a simpler option and possibly cheaper, but you can also have them paint fans for a fee (I have no idea how much they'd charge). Both LED and painted fans have very different looks, so choose which you like better. I prefer the painted fans personally.

I am planning on buying a DS build in the near future - what brand and model are the "6 LED fans" that they show in the customization area?

It seems like the upgrade might be worth it on some cases like the HAF 922 or HAF 912, but I'm not sure exactly what I would be getting.

Fan upgrade is pointless in the haf cases, they already have good air flow, in case of the 922 and 942, for $20 you can add the original 200mm fan made for the case and get teh best air flow quietly.

haf 200mm non led fan
or use the original 200mm red led fan made for the case:

200mm red led fan

if you go with the upgraded fans, they will not replace all of your fans, so will endup with 6 x 120mm red led fans, and some 200mm non led fans, as the 6 fans will not replace all of haf's fans.

for the 942 for exmaple, your side 200mm fang get replaced with 4 x 120mm, on the top 2 things can happen, either they replace the first top 200mm with 2 x 120mm fans and leave the second spot empty, or they leave the first 200mm fan alone (non led) and put 2 x 120mm in the place of the second 200mm on top.

in short with DS's fan upgrade on 942 you will endup with 6 x 120mm and 1 x 230mm fans.

with the upgrade I advise (just add teh oem 200mm led or not) you will endup with 3 x 200mm and 1 x 230mm, and it will have the best airflow and be quiet.
