So after reading this article a part of me hopes there is a sliver of truth to it. If it does hold true AMD could be back in the market of making CPU's that perform and force Intel to work harder and smarter. Competition is always a good thing in my opinion.

Rumour: AMD Zen

Should be interesting to see once these processors are in the hands of reviewers.

Agreed, I'll be curious to hear more.

Single-thread performance of Zen is equal to Haswell-E, and that with multithreading performance the octa-core chip is at the very least equivalent to the Intel Core i7-5960X

That answers all you need to know, single thread is not even as good as 6700k and multi core it can't do what 6950x can, and its not even out yet, as usual by the time AMD comes out with that chip intel has already moved on to faster cpus.

we could argue the price but I'm not sure I want the perfomrance of a haswell when I can have a 7700k oced to 5.0GHz on a good air cooler or an aio like the h115i, which will smoke the AMD in gaming.

as for multi core by the time this is out you can rest assured that there will be a competing cpu in price/performancem now that could mean 5960x at a lower price or maybe even the 6900k lower price.

At the end this will do nothing to bring down the prices of intel new cpus since it can't match their performance.

Of course that is all based on assumptions, we need to wait and see what it is, what it can really do and how much it will cost. till then we are all just basically guessing.

Should be very interesting indeed. I'm curious to see how well it's multi-core utilization will be. Especially since leaks are already showing a $500 cpu performing equally with Intel $1,000 cpu.

The biggest benefit here is I think we will see minimal difference in core to core comparisons, but it will give Intel some heat finally and cause price wars to begin. In the past people always paid for AMD over Intel because the difference in performance was marginal but the price was quite large. Now that difference is extremely close... so intel will have no choice but to respond properly for once.

Good job AMD (presumably)

Hopefully there will be some good competition from AMD moving forward.

We can only hope AMD shows up this time. The consumers benefit when there is competition and there hasn't been for a very long time...Ironically, my previous 8 year computer had an AMD processor.

Well if these early leaks for both Zen and for Kaby Lake are any indication... we might have some. Assuming the leaks are true, then it looks like Zen is going to dominate mainstream cpu platforms and cause the enthusiast market to fall in pricing.

Of course early leaks usually aren't true, but it's all we have at the moment.

Go AMD, competition is what we need. Intel is running crazy with it's pricing.

I'm with you Meller - go team AMD!! Intel has pretty much been able to gouge people at this point. That's never a good thing. Plus I do have a soft spot for AMD (though I currently don't have any of their products). I remember my first few PCs with ATI video cards and AMD processors - lol.
