You can run a PCI-e power splitter on the PCI-e power connectors. So long as the 12V rail doesn't exceed 552W you're good. http://www.corsair.com/en-us/cx600-80-plusr-bronze-certified-power-supply

Just about any large online pc parts retailer should have something like it.

Just curious... you don't have that i5 overclocked do you?
Where are you getting your watt estimates from? From an actual watt from wall program, such as corsair link (for example) or are you using a site like pc part picker which gives an estimate on watts? Ideally, most PSU's should actually maintain a load of 90% to achieve their rated efficiency. Which will put you in that prime spot. But know, you'll be very limited on your power targets for GPU Boost on your video cards, ESPECIALLY if you have an OC being done to your CPU and/or are running really high frequency ram. Things to consider. |

I personally would use a 750 watt psu for sli 970. The 600 watt might do it, but if you get crashes, shutdowns, etc then you can upgrade it. A Corsair 750cx comes with the 4x 6+2 Pcie connectors you need instead of doing a work around. There is also the amps on the 12 volt rail to consider. The 600 watt cx has 46 amps on single rail, and I believe, could be wrong, the 970's would like 28 amp per card, if their being pushed.
Try the 600 watt. If it works then that's it. |
