My work will have me going back and forth between two homes at random times and I decided not to haul my computer back and forth. Gaming laptops just seem like a waste for what you get. I am looking to be able to play any game and max settings with ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q as the display.
Budget up to 5500$. If under is always a good thing. 1561814 I really love my Velox unit I have now. Chassis Chassis Model: Digital Storm Velox Core Components Processor: Intel Core i7 6800K 3.4GHz (6-Core) (Unlocked CPU) Motherboard: ASUS X99-A II (Intel X99 Chipset) (Up to 4x PCI-E Devices) System Memory: 32GB DDR4 2666MHz Digital Storm Performance Series Power Supply: 1000W EVGA 1000 GQ Storage / Connectivity Optical Drive: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 8x / CD-Writer 8x) (Internal) Storage Set 1: 1x SSD (500GB Samsung 850 EVO) Storage Set 2: 1x Storage (2TB Seagate / Toshiba) Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics / Multimedia Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce GTX 1080 8GB (EVGA ACX 3.0) (VR Ready) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Digital Storm Engineering Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex 240mm Liquid CPU Cooler (Fully Sealed + No Maintenance) HydroLux Tubing Style: - Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected HydroLux Fluid Color: - Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected Cable Management: Premium Cable Management (Strategically Routed & Organized for Airflow) Chassis Fans: Standard LED Performance Fans (Blue) Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Blue) Digital Storm TwisterBoost Technology Boost Processor: Stage 1: Overclock CPU - Up to 4.4GHz (Depends on Cooling and Motherboard) Any changes are welcome. I have had issues with sli on my first build with two 980's so trying to stay away from sli if possible. Maybe a Titan over the 1080? |

Is this a strictly gaming rig ? If so, go with a Skylake 6700k with aZ170 mobo. Better scores in gaming. Also drop to 16gb ram.
If you want to stay with a single video card, and that would be my pick, for your 3440x2160 monitor, I'd go Titan X Pascal. Or even better, wait till next month for the 1080 ti launch, supposedly. It'll be stronger and lots cheaper than Titan X Pascal. A single 1080, non ti, will play on your monitor, but with settings tweaked down. Still good gaming, depends what you want. For single card, an 850 watt psu is plenty. Even a 750watt might do it. Hope this helps. |

Yes, the 6700k is a quad core. More cores are great if they can be utilized, but for gaming, it's not used. In fact, the 6700k has better single core scores and that's what's used and higher core speed. Benches show the quad beating the 6 and 8 cores. In this case more isn't better, just more.

I hear that. We're finally at a point where a single card will play on a 1080p with no effort, no sli, but now we want wide screen or 4K screens. So, back to sli or the next generation card.

I was also looking at the Bolt. I like the slim factor of it and sense I want to stick with one card I think it would be another good option to choose from. Question about the Exotic Anodized Finish - Bullet Grey - Brushed Aluminum Hairline Finish ...when I choose that option to my understanding it's just giving the case more of a chrome finish? But it states that it will not work with the liquid cooling? Am I missing something to why having that finish would mess with the internal parts? I have emailed DS about it but have yet to receive any response

I believe, if memory serves, that the cases that are used for liquid cooling have the added mounts or holes needed to install them and the Anodized finished cases haven't, yet, been custom ordered for that. It's not that the exterior finish somehow interferes with the liquid cooling but just haven't been ordered to fit it.
Hope that makes sense. When you hear from DS either confirm this or correct it. |

Just found this quote from Alex, found under News. Anodized color cases...
Quote At this, those Anodized finishes don't work with the HydroLux Pro system as those are painted chassis that we have in-stock. HydroLux Pro requires additional mounting holes that these anodized cases do not have. In the next 2-3 weeks, we will have gloss painted versions of the chassis, and those will work with HydroLux Pro. We have new BOLT 3 colors on the way that are in the glossy finish that work with HydroLux PRO. Check back in the next 1-2 weeks.
Or, you can contact me as well directly and we can go from there ([email protected]). |

Is there any real disadvantage of getting a bolt vs the other machines if I don't want to use sli? I'm not in need of a small unit but like it to be a little different then my Velox. Only thing I can see would be the sli part of it. Thoughts?

Single GPU support and only two DIMM slots for RAM on the ITX motherboard would be it (you can still fit up to 32GB in two slots with 16GB DDR4 DIMMs). Thankfully, DS has started to offer better SFX PSU's (the Lian-Li's); make sure to select one (550W is more than enough for a single GPU).
Here's is what I'd spec:
Airflow control board is not needed for the two fans on the system. It's basically a glorified LED controller at that point. The GPU can be water-cooled, which is nice when you're playing for longer periods. In the Bolt 3, if you're already optioning for the Hydrolux Pro, it isn't a big stretch to add it, and with the other changes I made, they system is slightly cheaper. |

For me, personally, the only disadvantage is the size of the case means a tighter fit for everything which could make any replacements and upgrades a little harder to do. There's also no airflow to speak of, but configured correctly, it doesn't matter. I tend to think the Bolt is only for those with space issues, but I would also consider it when the time comes. I rule it out one day but consider it the next. It is a nice change from tower cases. |

Will be running do 27" 2560 x 1440 Gsyncs. Chassis Chassis Model: Digital Storm Velox Exterior Finish: Exotic Paint Finish - Apollo White Core Components Processor: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2 GHz (Codename Kaby Lake) (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z270-P (Intel Z270 Chipset) (Up to 2x PCI-E Devices) System Memory: 16GB DDR4 2666MHz Digital Storm Performance Series Power Supply: 750W EVGA SuperNOVA (750 B1) Storage / Connectivity Optical Drive: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 8x / CD-Writer 8x) (Internal) Storage Set 1: 1x SSD (1TB Samsung 850 EVO) Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics / Multimedia Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce GTX 1080 8GB (NVIDIA Founders Edition) (VR Ready) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Digital Storm Engineering Extreme Cooling: H20: HydroLux LITE: Integrated Cooling System (1x Graphics Card + CPU) HydroLux Tubing Style: Flexible Tubing (Requires HydroLux Liquid Cooling System) HydroLux Fluid Color: White Fluid (Requires HydroLux Liquid Cooling System) Cable Management: Exotic Cable Management - White - (Cable Combs with Custom Color Sleeved Extension Cables) Chassis Fans: Corsair LED Airflow Performance Edition (White) Fans I am going to be going with another Velox system. This is just a build I was looking at. I am waiting till the 1080TI comes out before I buy. But going with the cooling on the CPU and GPU is it a waste to add those extra fan options? Also with the white cable management...what does that really do? Are all cables inside going to be white..from the pic it kinda looks like the power supply cables are white? Going for a very slick white unit. Thoughts? Edited by DarkSydeElement - 13 Jan 2017 at 10:09pm |

Build looks good. I would change the psu to the other 750watt for another $34. A better, longer warranty box.
The cable extensions are from the psu, meaning the mobo 24pin and the Pcie to the video card. Not sure the storage drives have them. |

So still waiting on the 1080ti info before i pull the trigger but has anyone seen a blue Velox case before? I tried to google it but I can't seem to find any, I see the white one and the blue Aventum. I'm having a tough choice between a Blue Velox case with white cable/fans etc. Or a White case with blue cable/fans. Is the blue that light colored blue or dark blue? Any info

I don't see a Blue Velox on their Instagram, but there is an Aventum 3
Aventum II Bolt 3 Bolt II and Bolt in blue up there. The Bolt also has some raindrop effect applied to it. Edit: keep in mind that the Bolt 3 is anodized, not painted as the other are and the Velox would be. Edited by - 17 Feb 2017 at 12:16pm |

If he says summer and it's like the Aventum 3, it'll be the very last day that is technically summer: September 21st. In other words: don't get your hopes up for it being soon. |

Hey Alex, is there any way to say get like a pic from the warehouse of a blue Velox case? I am very OCD when it comes to stuff like this. I really want to go with the blue but from what I can piece together its more of a light faded blue?
Also how does DS work when it comes to video card launches..once the 1080ti comes out will you have them ready to rock and roll? Or do you lower your normal 1080's then sell the ti's...? They just need to hurry up so I can buy already. Edited by DarkSydeElement - 17 Feb 2017 at 1:51pm |

The 1080 Ti will be a product along side the 1080, so they don't need to deplete stock there. Also, don't expect there to be a significant price drop for the 1080 when the 1080 Ti comes out, like the 980 did when the 980 Ti came out...Nvidia increased the price of the Titan X by $200, making for a fairly large price gap that a 1080 Ti can slot in at $800-900 without much a need to adjust other card prices.
The only realistic price adjustment may come around May, when AMD's Vega cards come to market, depending on their price and performance. |
