i just bought a vanquish 5 and my dad tells me he expects i'll be buying another in 2 years. With that i'm thinking of canceling my order. To pay $2600 just to buy another in 2 years, no thanks.  It's been years since i had a desktop. I can't remember how long the last one lasted. I know parts can be replaced but i doubt all can. How long has your vanquish lasted/ been running?

Really the only thing you will probably replace is most likely the graphics card, everything else will more than likely be fine.

The system i bought from Digital Storm is nearing 5 years old, it is used as a secondary computer but it still works good.

All the parts are pretty standard. If you are a heavy gamer and want to run games at decently high resolutions and detail levels, expect to replace the GPU in 2-3 years. The processor is good for 4-5 years, at which point you can expect to replace the motherboard along with it. The rest of the components should be good well beyond that...they'll probably fail before they need replacement.

Every part in there, the graphics card, motherboard, ram, hard drives, etc can be easily upgraded as needed.  Don't know why replacing it in 2 years is the thought, my DS rig is 6 years old and I've only upgraded the graphics card.

The cpu and motherboard are usually good for 5 years plus to stay up to the task and graphics cards every 3-4 years.

I have two DS rigs.

One is over 6 years old and I haven't upgraded anything - and it works just fine.

The other one is over 3 years old and I haven't upgraded anything - and it works just fine.

Two years seems a little arbitrary to me, but your mileage may vary. Big%20Smile

Purchased my Vanquish 2 Ultimate in March of '14. Simple sturdy little machine that has done everything I asked of it. It came with 8Gb of RAM, I doubled that because I wanted to, it wasn't a necessity at the time.

I've just replaced the GTX770 I got with the machine with the 1070, and again, it wasn't out of necessity. It was just time.

Maybe your dad is used to paying for stuff that won't last... but you're not. Between the quality of parts, the quality of the build, and the quality of the builder, you can't go wrong on any budget at DS.

Just as the others have said, our systems last quite a long time. We use standard components allowing our customers to upgrade their PC down the road. We don't void the warranty either if the customer decides to make changes.

My first DS rig was 3years ago.
Vanquish level 4 with a gtx 770.
It has run with no issues at all until it shut down a month ago. CPU overheat. It had a 120 corsair aio cooler.
Gonna replace the cooler and the 770 with a 1060 and pass off the PC to my GF.

My apollo just hit stage 7 today.
Shipped. Whoooooo
