Started with the Velox case, downgraded the case to the Coridium which is the Obsidian Series 450D to save a few hundred bucks. Would there be any issues with this case instead of Velox with my current set up? Set up comes out to $2,999.

I might drop the RAM down to 16GB and stick with the Velox.

I agree with BOTA. Drop down the RAM, go back to the Velox, and up the CPU cooler to the H115i to handle the heat of a 5GHz overclock.

Oh, and I don't know if you need WiFi or not. But that mobo does not have it, onboard

I have a 300(2.4ghz)/900(5ghz) external Wifi adapter, so all good there. |

To answer your case question, yes, the Corridium 450D case will handle this no problem. Any of these cases will. Velox case does give you more but not needed.
Drop the ram and up the cooler like was mentioned and the rest looks good to me. |

Thanks for the responses, one last question...
If I choose the upgrade on the chassis fans to the Corsair High Performance ones, will the stock fans only be replaced or will all the mounting points be filled? For instance, the Obsidian 450D has seven fan mounting points(2 top, 2 front, 2 bottom, 1 rear) but stock build only comes with 2 front and 1 rear. Will I get all 7 fans with the upgrade? |

That's an excellent question.
I'm confused as to exactly what they swap. There was a time they only swapped existing fans, like the front 2 and maybe the top 2 if you had a radiator up there with H115i for example. Now I think they use as many as they can, but I would be surprised they put in the bottom 2. Those spots are rarely used or needed. |

I could almost swear I've seen this question answered before and it was a one for one. I could be wrong, though.

We normally do fill all slots available, to ensure we do this for your build, please request this in the special notes section at the very bottom of the configurator.

Went back to the Velox case, improved the cooling to the H115i, and pulled the trigger.
A little over the $3,000 I was planning to spend but got approved for a great 0% loan(Ahh, thank you good credit), so it feels alot better than dropping $3,200 at once. Can't wait! |
