This will be my first desktop and I have no idea where to start

Budget:
$2,400 without accessories (this is flexible, but really not wanting to spend what I don't need to) The lower the better!(:

Expectations:
I expect great performance throughout the next 4 years with a single monitor.

Usage:
Mainly buying this to start YouTube and streaming actually. Lots of serious gaming at high (not max) quality and video editing this gameplay with a facecam in 1080p videos. Only light streaming.

Special Needs:
Looking for something beautiful that shows just how good of a PC it is. I was thinking the Bolt 3 would be a perfect case.

Again, I'm not sure where to start. I would like the Bolt 3, but I don't want anything overkill for what I'm doing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Good morning blurryface and welcome to the DS forums.

The configuration gurus will be along shortly. They are going to ask what monitor you plan on using, so perhaps there's a start...

Here's a great Bolt config for your 1080p monitor gaming.

Config # 1447914.       Cost $ 2215

Just plug the config # into Load Config up top.   I can't paste right now.

The gtx 1070 is excellent 1080p gaming.

Hope this helps.

The Hydrolux Pro in the Bolt is no maintenance for 3 years, according to the manufacturer. You might have to add fluid at some time, but not enough info to know for sure.

The only swapping out would be if you cool the gpu with it and change or upgrade the video card.

i like no name's build and i'll tell you why:  you're going to want the best cpu you can afford, and when i say "best" i mean best for what you want to do with your pc.  streaming and playing at the same time in the same system is going to perform better on more cores/threads because of the way encoding works distributing the workload over each core evenly.   does that mean you should dump most of your budget on an 8-core proc?  no!  you can get by with an I7 4-core w/HT if that 6-core is too much, but i'd advise sticking with his build recommendation.

the graphics card is the next most important component.  converting your stream from 1080p to 720p with game running, overlays, web cam, yada yada...get as much as you can afford.

16GB of ram is fine, but you could benefit from more if you can find it in your budget.

any SATA ssd is fine, just get one or more with large capacity.

My build was for under $2400.     If budget is more, the more cores and stronger video card are the way to go.    All about the budget.

i get that bprat buddy, no offense, but in the case of streaming and gaming an I5 is really going to hinder him.  he's better off lowering the gpu to the minimum of his monitor resolution/games he intends to play/stream, which at 1080p (with a little headroom for running the streaming software) is in the area of a GTX 970 or better card.

He needs to wait for the 1060 to come out and then do a config, that should allow him an i7 and a good gpu, right now its tough.

"Future proof" does not exist, as far as games closest you gonna get to it is upgrading gpus in 2 years.

AMD's RX480 is having PCIE power draw issues.  It appears to need more power than expected and causing problems. I don't know how it affects oc but probably not good. AMD is working on a fix but tread at your own risk.....

He knows, AMD has promised a driver update asap to deal with that.

Personally I become an nvidia fan due to performance long time ago and I still am.

I am not a fan of the Bolt either as a gaming computer. Just too limiting if you want to expand your system. Also very hard to work on without pulling out something. I guess it has it applications but none that I want to deal with. It is a great package if it meets your requirements.
