Hello everyone,

I've had the Marauder Level 1 for several years now and while it was a great budget pc when I bought it then, it has shown it's age now. I was wondering if anyone could offer their recommendations on a cpu and graphics card upgrade? I would like to try and keep it under $300 if possible, but please feel free to suggest what you think is the best for the money at the moment. Thank you for reading.

Here are the current specs:
Processor - AMD FX-4100
Video Card - AMD 7750
Motherboard - ASUS M5A97
Power Supply - Corsair GS 600W

Hi exsion....  A quick check and I'd recommend a graphics card upgrade.   For around $200 you could get the r9-380 if you want to stick with AMD or the gtx 960 for Nvidia.  They are very close in gaming with the 380 edging out the 960 in most cases by just a little.  The gtx 960 is however is better in the power usage department.  Both will run off your 600 watt psu.

r9-380 seems to win out in all but power needed.

I'd stay away from any cpu upgrade, if there's any even available.  Not as cost effective at all compared to a graphics card update.

Both cards will give you a 2-3 x fps in most games.  A healthy update. Big%20Smile

FX-6300 6-core (4.1Ghz Turbo) = $105 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286
R9-380 Asus Strix = $190 ($170 after mail in rebate): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121963

you should be able to do both w/o a mobo change.  the cpu upgrade is about a two-tier upgrade and the gpu upgrade is about 8 tiers.

i recommend the cpu upgrade for that amount.  you're currently on a very old dual core and you don't want to bottleneck a graphics upgrade.

If you're going to replace the processor, make sure you have thermal paste for it.
