I had to laugh when I saw that on the comparison. |

Yeah, rumor has it that it will be around $1350...but if I were I betting person, I would put money on something like that being the launch price and then there being a price reduction down to $1000 down the road. That would be similar to how the Titan Z went from $3000 to $1500 in response to the R9 295X2, just like how the Titan X will be up against the R9 390X.

Wow - interesting news. These cards should be able to do 4K by themselves. Although I'm curious where the price falls on it. Hmmm...

It looks like the r9 390X won't be 'announced' until CES in June. It looks like NVIDIA will officially announce the Titan in 2 weeks so it probably will be available relatively soon. AMD looks to continue to lose market share. I hope the 390X is a home run. We need competition to keep the Green Team honest!

Do you think the 980 Ti will be better than the X?

Assuming there is a 980 Ti, I would guess it would have 6GB RAM and perhaps have some of the double precision units disabled, while being more affordable (but still expensive), similar to how the 780 Ti was to the Titan Black. But, the double precision floating point is down on the Big Maxwell chips, compared to the Kepler chips, so there is a question whether the Titan X will meet the demands of the semi-professionals who really found a good use for the Titans (didn't want the expense of the Quadro's, but needed more DP and/or VRAM than the mainline GeForce cards)...basically, we'll have to wait a couple weeks, if not longer, to see if they'll just have the Titan X or they'll introduce a 980 Ti. |

I'm not sure there will be a 980 Ti version. I guess like
said above they could cut the amount of RAM to 6 or 8 GB and probably the number of CUDA processing cores. At this point we don't even know what the Titan X will have as it hasn't been announced so it's pretty much simply a speculation game even more so than normal.
